Providence Health and Services is calling a Senior Cancer Registrar (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) at Providence Regional Medical Center, Cancer Center Partnership in Everett, WA.

In this position you will:
Extract clinical information from medical records. Compile and code that information in an electronic database. Maintain components of the cancer data collection system consistent with accreditation requirements of COC and the healthcare delivery system. Obtain missing information from clinicians, coordinate entering, processing and retrieving of data for cancer registry functions such as case finding, follow-up, staging, etc. all data requirements are met and carried out as outlined by the Commission on Cancer, Washington State Cancer Registry, SEER and the PRMCE Cancer Registry
Promote the use of the cancer registry within the Oncology Program. Promote interaction and a collaborative approach to the care of the cancer patient. Maintain, compile and report quality health information data for research, and to QI. Perform QI functions to meet COC requirements such as 10% case audit,
Maintain confidential master file system for cancer registry in secure area. Obtain current information which is integrated into cancer committee and various other cancer related activities. Stay current with changes in regulations as identified by the hospital, state and federal governing bodies
Working as part of the team for the various tumor boards held at PRMCE.
Serve as liaison to medical staff, nursing staff, administration, patient support, clinical research, SEER registry and others as deemed necessary. Share and facilitate the use of data in decision-making as requested.
Report cancer registry data at Tumor Board/Conferences and Cancer Committee. Collects, compiles and prepares materials for presentation at meetings. Assist in preparation of the annual report of cancer cases diagnosed in Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. Promote the use of cancer registry data.
Analyze registry data for trends in demographics, treatment outcomes and demographics and reports as needed.
Has the ability to self-motivate, work independently, efficiently and accurately as well as be knowledgeable of any and all registry responsibilities.
Must be able to participate in registry activities that involve other members of the cancer registry and/or members of any other departments working with the cancer program in a manner reflecting cooperation and pride as a registry staff member. Assist in establishing priorities to meet deadlines
High school diploma or equivalent
Cancer Registry experience
Must be CTR eligible and receive certification within 6 months of hire date
Coursework/Training on Medical Terminology Course or equivalent educ/experience
- Associate Degree (Allied Health related field)
