Providence Health & Services Manager – Spiritual Care in Everett, Washington
Providence is calling a Manager, Spiritual Care to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA.
The Manager of Spiritual Care is responsible for directing and supporting a broad range of professional pastoral care services to all patients, families, caregivers, providers, and volunteers within the context of a large Catholic health care system. The manager is responsible for staffing, disciplinary actions, coaching, and developing caregivers and for the stewardship of all department resources, ensuring that the services of professional pastoral care are an integral part of the overall ministry. The leadership functions of this position will be complemented by the direct provision of pastoral care.
In this position you will:
Ensure that professional pastoral care is provided by qualified Chaplain twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week
Manage human resources
Ensure that Staff Chaplains collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams to contribute to the overall plan of care and document appropriately in the medical record.
Collaborate with Vice President of Mission and Spiritual Care to develop short-term and long-range priorities.
Ensure that the services of the department are integrated into the overall mission of Providence Health and Services
Engages in self-development and promotes the continuous development of professional pastoral services
Maintains a professional understanding of current developments in theology, ethics, spirituality and leadership practices and knowledge and understanding of the most current Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services: United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
Demonstrates excellence in oral and written communications
Required qualifications for this position include:
Masters Degree in Divinity, Theology, or a closely-related field.
Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
Ongoing education and experience in pastoral care with particular skill in addressing the spiritual, religious, and ethical dimensions of loss, illness, bereavement, theodicy, and other subject areas relevant to ministry in the health care setting
Must be a practicing Catholic who is active in the Catholic community and adept at understanding church polity and structures
Three to five years’ experience in professional chaplaincy with demonstrated ability to effectively minister to people with diverse systems of values and beliefs
Three to five years progressive leadership experiences as a chaplain or in department leadership.Understanding of human resources, budgeting and project management
Board-certified as a Chaplain and continues to act in accordance with the Common Standards for the Certification and Practice of Professional Chaplaincy.
Ordained or endorsed for professional chaplaincy by a recognized ecclesiastical authority
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completion of a CPE residency, preferably at a Level I Trauma Center.
At least two years of leadership experience, preferably in the healthcare setting.
Ability to collaborate with a wide range of professional community clergy.
