Providence Health & Services Director Laboratory Services in Everett, Washington
Providence is calling an Director Laboratory Services (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett in Everett, WA.
We are seeking a Director Laboratory Services who will be accountable for clinical quality, safety, satisfaction and financial performance.
In this position you will:
Establish and monitor effective systems of communication: holds regular department staff meetings; maintains open communication with department employees; demonstrates professional demeanor and ability to communicate effectively to individuals and groups; demonstrates strong communication with medical staff regarding PEMC's services to the physicians; solicits information from managers, supervisors and staff in problem-solving process improvement; remains calm and constructive when dealing with difficult issues, persons and circumstances; resolves inter and/or intra department complaints promptly and effectively.
Utilize effective leadership and human resource skills; human resource and/or union contracts are administered appropriately; proactively and in consultation with human resource; manages department staff, monitors absentee rates and takes corrective action; actively monitors turnover and seeks retention strategies; supervises all staff fairly and consistently; develops staff through coaching, cross training, internal/external education opportunities to improve or enhance job skills. involves staff in development of departmental goals; shares strategic plan & specific objectives seeking staff input & feedback; participates in 95% of management skills development via internet programs or management education sessions requested by their assistant administrator; maintain department evaluations at a 95% level.
Strategically plan for department, prepares department goals and objectives which support system initiatives; conducts regular review of progress towards goals; maintain active knowledge of trends within specialty and external markets and communicates these to administration to enhance overall PEMC planning effectiveness; problem-solve, present options for resolution and initiate appropriate action steps.
Provide staff support to a variety of committees; create and distribute agendas, attends meetings to take minutes, prepares and distributes accurate minutes that are timely; maintains all meeting records.
Develop and maintain the Patient Safety Database; enter required information according to department time standards; audit entry to ensure accuracy and produces prescribed reports for distribution to Patient Safety Committee.
Promote quality within department; develop implement, monitor and evaluate department specific performance and service standards; take initiative to implement quality improvement efforts, assures all regulatory standards and other operation standards are adhered to and documented; prepare quality records/reports and submit in a timely manner; insure management reports are followed up promptly and reported to Risk management for trending.
Accurately prepare annual budgets in accordance with PEMC goals and objectives; consistently operate within department budgets/cost centers; consistently monitors productivity standards in response to volume changes; consistently demonstrates focus on cost management and cost reduction.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree, Health science or related field.
5 years Laboratory experience (preferably hospital-based)
MT (ASCP) or other national certification.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
5 years Management experience.
