The Pharmacy Intern will perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician. In addition, performs delegated pharmacist duties under the supervision of a pharmacy preceptor as allowed by Washington State regulations.
In this position you will:
Demonstrate age specific patient care considerations for the population served.
Demonstrate application of knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, psychosocial, patient and family education areas based on PEMC age specific care competency assessment tool.
Respond to patient and provider inquiries.
Perform telephone reception duties
Answer pneumatic tubes, carry out requests for service.
Refer appropriate information/questions to the pharmacist/IV nurse
Fill automated medication dispensing machines on patient care units.
Inventories are maintained on a daily basis or as required.
Order medications and supplies.
Price and shelve stock related documents are timely and accurate.
Check stock for expired medications.
Monthly inspections completed on a timely basis; medications ordered appropriately according to par levels/usage.
Follow all pharmacy security policies regarding controlled substances and chemotherapy disposal/handling.
Maintain and update computerized in patient profiles.
Accurately record patient and prescription information into the computerized patient order entry system.
All entries are properly verified.
Required qualifications for this position includes:
- Must be enrolled as a student of Pharmacy in an accredited college and/or university and be registered as a Pharmacy Intern with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy
